When people don't interact on social media, the original goal is defeated and it dies off (like Hi5 did).
Second Life is particularly unique because users don't really need to interact to have fun or achieve their aim for playing but the vast majority have formed strong friendship circles built around role playing groups, night life and fashion.
For the new comers in SL who finally figure out how to play the game, the next challenge usually becomes finding friends on SL, people to hangout with and talk to.
Designated public areas are created just for that but are often deserted or filled with people who are trolling or not engaging in local chat at all.
The Secondlife Friendship Network
On the Secondlife forum, someone posted a topic asking where/how to make friends or just find someone to hangout with just like many others have done previously, but this time the answers given where not tips about chatting up people and favourite hangout spots.A few residents (Ambie, Rosalyn) went out of their way to Create a Group called "Secondlife Friendship Network" to help anyone looking for new friends, to have fun, and just be sociable!
The SL Friendship Network is not the first group of its kind that has come up with this initiative but the growth and activities show that it's one of the best.
Social events are of all kinds are planned and all interested are invited to join the group and participate. If you have ideas that will help, also reach out to the moderators and share.
Remember, you may engage the group chat in a conversation or invitation to hangout at any time.
